Chibi Japan Expo International Team Iron Chef Rules

Article 1: Contest description
Chibi Japan Expo International Team Iron Chef 2008 is an amateur music video contest. The music videos must have been created from anime (Japanese cartoons) sources. Video games related videos will also be accepted. This contest is free and for non commercial-use.

Article 2: Deadline
The contest registration ends on October 22nd, 2008 at 11:59pm UTC+2 (Paris Timezone).
The contest begins Saturday 25th of October at 0:01 am UTC+2 (Paris Timezone). An email containing the audio archive link and the FTP address will be sent to all teams.
The contest ends Sunday 26th of October at 11:59 pm UTC+2 (Paris Timezone). All AMVs participating to the contest must be uploaded to the FTP server by this time.

Articles 3: Contest organizers
This contest is organized by AMV FRANCE, the French Anime Music Videos association (en.amv-france.com) for Chibi Japan Expo.

Article 4: Submissions terms
4.1 This contest is free and opened to all, except for jury members.
4.2 The videos must have been created during the contest.
4.3 A single participation per group is accepted and only one single video per participation.
4.4 Only anime or manga related videos will be accepted. Video games related videos will also be accepted.
4.5 At the starting time, you will have to choose between 2 audio mixes that will be proposed to all teams via email. However, all audio sources will be included into the downloadable archive. You will be free to remix these sources and create a new mix (based on these sources only).
4.6 In order to participate to this contest you must totally agree with the following rules.

Article 5: Submission process
Only teams made of 3 people will be accepted, no more, no less. Of course, you also have the opportunity to create international teams that will be able to work on several timezones. One email address will be necessary for each team.
Each team must fill the electronic inscription sheet. The video will be uploaded on the FTP server before the end of the contest. The FTP address and access will be provided in the email sent to each team at the beginning of the contest.

Article 6: Technical requirements
6.1 The following formats are accepted:

  • File formats - AVI, MP4 or MKV
  • Video Codecs - DivX, XviD or x264
  • Audio Codecs - MP3 or AAC

6.2 The video size must NOT exceed 300 Mo, except under certain justified circumstances (High Definition).

Article 7: How to send your video
Your video must be uploaded through the FTP server. The FTP address and access will be provided in the email sent to each team at the beginning of the contest. If you encounter any problem during your video upload, please contact us through the support forum placed at your disposal or through our IRC channel.

Article 8: Guarantees
8.1 Each participant (person or group) must guarantee his/her exclusive ownership of the video he/she submits. This guarantee must extend to the direct or indirect violation of any of the exclusive rights of a copyright owner.
8.2 Each participant accepts that his/her video can be publicly displayed, become downloadable on websites such as AMV France and Chibi Japan Expo and be used during several conventions in which AMV France will take part.
8.3 Any off-age participant accepts to be photographed during the convention and is aware that said images can be used in any non-commercial communication from AMV France and Chibi Japan Expo.

Article 9: Jury
Three members from AMV France and/or renowned AMV makers, will constitute the Jury.

Article 10: Ranking criteria
The jury will rank the videos, basing their judgment on editing quality, conversion, originality, aestheticism, and coherence.

Article 11: Results
The videos will be ranked. The results will be announced during the second edition of Chibi Japan Expo. As always, various prizes can be won.

Article 12: Disqualification
12.1 The organizing committee reserves the right to disqualify any submission without having to justify, in any way, its decision.
12.2 You are prohibited from posting any unlawful, libelous, defamatory, inflammatory, threatening, pornographic, profane, scandalous, or other material that may give rise to civil or criminal liability or otherwise violate any applicable law.
12.3 By submitting a video to this contest, you agree on the Terms and Conditions sated on this page.

Article 13: Modifications or Contest Cancellation
AMV France may at any time revise these Terms and Conditions by updating this posting. Your submission to this Contest is contingent upon your agreement to be bound by any such revisions and you should therefore periodically visit this page to review the current Terms and Conditions.
AMV France can, within its rights and at any moment, cancel the Contest.

Article 14: Rules interpretation
Any misinterpretation of the rules will be  resolved by the Contest officials. Such decision is final. Protests regarding the judgement of the Contest will not be accepted.
